Candidates 12

Is CV Pod really free for candidates?

Yes, forever. There's no paid tier, no paid visibility and nothing you can buy to move up a list. CV Pod takes nothing from any hire. Employers pay for access, and that payment never buys them anything that changes how you're treated.

What is a Pod?

One link, cvpod.com/p/your-name, that replaces your PDF CV. It holds your "Verified real person" badge, three short recorded answers with transcripts, a plain CV in your own words with the "AI helped me write this" note, and up to five pieces of proof. You own it and decide who sees it.

What are the three questions?

They're the same for everyone, so employers compare like with like:

"What have you actually done in your work?"
"Tell us about a problem you solved."
"What do you want to do next?"

Each answer is about a minute. It must be at least 20 seconds and stops at 90.

Do I have to be on camera?

No. Choose video or voice only for each answer, and mix them if you like. Voice only gets exactly the same space, size and weight as video. If you pick voice only, we never ask for your camera.

What if I mess up a recording?

You get three takes per question each time you record. Preview each take, then choose "Use this take" or "Record again". You can re-record any answer later, which starts a fresh set of three takes. Your old answer stays live until you save a new one. There's no editing or trimming, so it's clearly you talking.

The transcript got a word wrong. Can I fix it?

Transcripts are made automatically and are read-only, so they always match what you said. You can add a short transcript note (up to 300 characters) pointing out the error. Employers see the note beside the transcript. The recording is always the source of truth.

I used AI to help write my CV. Is that a problem?

No. AI help is fine, as long as it's disclosed. Answer the "AI helped me write this" toggle yes or no. Employers see it beside your CV in the same size text, with no warning colour. It's never used to filter, order or mark anyone down.

What counts as proof?

Up to five links, files or photos of real work: a roster you built, a licence, a portfolio, photos of a job. Each item shows how it was backed:

Self-declared you stand behind it. Awaiting referee a request is out. Confirmed by former manager a named person clicked to confirm.

Zero proof items is fine. Self-declared is honest, not a failure.

Who can see my Pod?

Employers whose pod-only jobs you apply to, and anyone you send a link to. Employers can't browse or search Pods, and search engines don't index them. Make a separate labelled link for each person you send it to, and your receipts will show exactly who looked.

Can I take my Pod back?

Yes. Pause or revoke any link, pause access for a single application, or pause your whole Pod from Settings. Changes take effect within 15 seconds, even on a page someone has open. Revoking can't take back anything someone already saw or screenshotted, and we tell you that plainly. Pausing doesn't change an employer's deadline to reply to you.

What happens after I apply?

You see the date the employer owes you a decision by: your application date plus their pledge of 7, 10 or 14 days. They'll Shortlist you, invite you to Interview, or Decline with a reason picked from a list, plus an optional note and the first name of the person who decided. Your receipts show when they open your Pod and what they play.

What if an employer misses their pledge?

At midnight after the due date, a breach is written to their public reply record, and it stays there permanently. You're told, and they can still reply. You can withdraw any time. If you think a decline reason isn't true, use "Dispute this reason" within 14 days. Our safety team checks facts, like whether a role was really filled. It doesn't second-guess judgement calls.

Verification and privacy 7

What does "Verified real person" mean?

Our verification provider checked a photo ID document and a live selfie, and the two matched. That's all. It isn't a background check, a criminal record check, a right-to-work check, a reference check, or a check of skills or character. It proves a real person at the time of the check.

Does the employer see my ID?

Never. Employers see the badge and your verified name. They don't see your document, date of birth, address, how many attempts it took, or anything else from the check.

What do you keep from the check?

Your verified name, the result, the date and a reference number. Your ID photo and selfie go straight to our provider, which must delete them within 24 hours. CV Pod never stores your ID image, selfie, face template, date of birth, address or document number.

What if the check doesn't work?

You'll see a plain reason, like "We couldn't read your document. Try again in better light, with all four corners in view." You get three attempts in a row, then a 24-hour pause before you can try again. Failed attempts are never shown to employers.

I don't have photo ID, or I can't record speech.

We'll be straight with you: in this early version you can't complete a Pod without photo ID, or without recording spoken answers. We're working with disabled users on a supported alternative before launch. Please tell us about your situation. It shapes what we build.

Does CV Pod use AI to judge me?

No. CV Pod never scores, ranks or judges people with AI, and never analyses faces, voices, accents or emotion. Software matches your selfie to your ID once, writes a transcript, and quotes your own words back when an employer asks. That's it.

How long do you keep my data?

While your account is open. Close it any time and your recordings, transcripts, CV and proof are deleted within 30 days. Replaced recordings are deleted within 7 days. Read the full privacy policy.

Employers 8

Who can post a pod-only job?

A verified company: a business email (personal addresses like Gmail don't count) plus a company number, either an ABN in Australia, an NZBN in New Zealand or a Companies House number in the UK. It's one account per company number. In this early version, sole traders with only a personal email or no registered number can't post yet.

What is the reply pledge?

When you open a job you choose 7, 10 or 14 days. Every applicant is owed a human decision within that many days of applying. The pledge is locked once the post opens, and each applicant keeps the window they applied under. Closing a job doesn't cancel the pledge to people already waiting.

Does a shortlist count as a reply?

Yes. Shortlist, Interview and Decline all count as a human decision and stop the clock. A decline needs one of seven fixed reasons and can carry a note. There's no bulk decline and no auto-reject. A phone call or email outside CV Pod doesn't count. Only a decision clicked in CV Pod does.

How does "Ask the pod" work?

Ask up to three questions per applicant, each up to 300 characters. The Pod answers only by quoting what the candidate shared, with a label showing where each quote came from. If it doesn't know, it says "I don't know" and asks the candidate to record a short reply. It won't answer questions about age, health, family plans or other personal topics, or questions asking it to judge someone. Those don't count against your three.

Why can't I sort applicants by best match?

Because nothing is scored. Applicants appear in the order they applied, "Waiting longest first", which is also the order their answers are due. You can filter by location, availability and "Has verified proof". When filters hide someone, a banner reminds you they're still waiting. Paying never moves anyone up the list.

Can I improve my reply record?

Only by answering applicants. The record shows percentage answered, average days to reply, jobs closed without a hire, and pledge breaches. No one can edit or delete an entry, including CV Pod staff. A late answer still counts as answered, but the breach stays. Closing a job without a hire is not a breach.

What do I see about a candidate?

The badge and verified name, their headline, location and availability, three recordings with transcripts, their plain CV with the AI note, and proof items with how each was backed. You never see their ID, contact details, other employers' activity or any score.

Can I report a Pod I'm unsure about?

Yes. Use "Report this Pod" for suspected impersonation, inappropriate content or a suspected fake referee. A person on our safety team reviews it, usually taking a first action within one business day. A report never moves a card or changes your deadline.

Referees and agencies 4

I got an email asking me to confirm something. What do I do?

Open the link. You'll see the candidate's name and one claim. Choose Confirm, Edit wording or Decline. No account or password. The link works once and lasts 14 days. Employers see your name, the role you were named as and the date, never your email.

What if I don't recognise the person?

Choose Decline, or simply ignore the email. Employers are never told that you declined. CV Pod will never ask a referee for a password or a payment.

Can I change the wording before I confirm?

Yes. Choose "Edit wording". Employers will see your wording, labelled "Edited by referee". The candidate's original stays private to them.

Can recruitment agencies use CV Pod?

Agencies can buy packs of verified-real-person checks. You invite people, they check on their own phone for free, and you learn only whether they passed and their verified name, never their ID. They choose whether the result goes on their own Pod. Agencies can't post pod-only jobs for employers, rank people or buy placement.

Pricing and refunds 4

What does it cost employers?

Per pod-only post (open up to 30 days): AUD 149, NZD 159 or GBP 79. The monthly plan (up to five posts open at once): AUD 399, NZD 429 or GBP 219. Prices exclude GST/VAT. The plan works out cheaper from your third post in a month. No hire or placement fee, ever.

What's the founding offer?

"Your first pod-only job is free while we launch in your country." It applies once per company, on the per-post path, for employers verified before their country reaches five open pod-only jobs.

When do you refund?

In full if you close a paid post within 24 hours of opening with no applications, if a CV Pod fault stopped a paid post, or for a duplicate charge. Also for an unused agency pack within 14 days, and for a first plan charge within 24 hours if no post opened under it. Refunds go back to your card within 5 business days.

Do you refund if we miss a pledge?

No. A breach is never refunded, credited or paid away. Its only consequences are the public record line, the notices, and a hold on opening new jobs once an applicant is 7 days overdue, until you answer. Closing a job without hiring isn't a refund trigger either.

Accessibility 2

Are recordings captioned?

Yes. Video answers have automatic captions on by default, placed below the picture so they never cover a face. Every answer, video or voice, has a transcript beside it. Nothing autoplays, and you can play at 0.75x to 1.5x speed.

What standard do you build to?

We design to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That's our target, not a certification. We test with screen readers, keyboard-only use and 200% zoom. If something doesn't work for you, tell us and we'll reply within 5 business days.
